Name of UT Skin: "JW Jungle Hero"

Model used: Male Commando

Team Colors: 4 Faces: 1

Author(s): This skin has the face of soldier "Brock," originally painted by UT designer Shane Caudle, as well as arms and a chest-front that likewise come from the original UT makers... although I had to modify everything a lot to make it fit on the Commando model. The repainting (legs, hands, loincloth, etc) was done by K_St_theJunior, originally just for family use in LAN games and bot-matches.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION (please read!):

"Jungle Hero" is meant to be used with mutators! Here's how we do it, and how you can too:

I have the WORM mutator already set up (with swords, phasors, crossbows, and MonsterMadness) for use with the great hero EarthWarrior and all the rest of my "Colorful Warriors" set of skins. So I also have a different mutator called "Stuffswapper" simultaneously set up for use with "Jungle Hero" and the Jungle Warriors set of skins. I have Stuffswapper set to replace the weapons in maps primarily with the "Compound Bow" of Unreal4Ever mod, but I also allow a few "Rambo Knife" weapons, an occasional ChaosUT sword or two, maybe a rifle or two, and maybe a crossbow or two. I have Stuffswapper set to replace the ammunition pick-ups in all maps, transforming them mostly into Arrows (also Fire Arrows, Dynamite Arrows, Plasma Arrows, and Poison Arrows) for the Compound Bow that "Jungle Warrior" carries with him every time he's out in public. Needless to say, most of the bots are carrying the same powerful Compound Bow.

This way, when we are choosing a map, we just activate whichever mutator we need at the moment: either WORM for the "Colorful Warriors" skin-characters, or Stuffswapper for the "Jungle Warriors" set of skins.

You'll notice that "Jungle Hero" has a (slightly recolored) version of Shane Caudle's "Brock" face, which he designed for UT as one of the original Male Soldier skins. That's because I've always felt -- ever since I first saw UT at a friend's house -- that Shane Caudle's "Brock" face would also be the perfect face for any of the three great superheros of literature. It would be suitable for Superman, or for the prototype Jungle Warrior, or for a strange visitor from Planet Warfare (the red one). So I've stuck that face on two nostalgia-trip skins named EarthWarrior and Jungle Hero.

"Jungle Hero" is the first of a new series of skins I've started. I've already produced a "Tribe1 Male" skin (for the Commando model) and a "Tribe2 Male" skin (for the GGMale2 model).

And some others should be joining them in this set before too long. I plan to make a black female tribesperson skin for the Abbey and Conni models soon, as well as a gorilla-warrior. I think I'll have to call that last one "Gorilla Warrior!" (What else?)

The "Jungle Hero" can battle beside or against human players and bots in some fun flashbacks to the days of the prototype Jungle Warriors, and of the pioneering Warlord from another world. And please have some respect for their feats of conquest and invincibility!

Remember that all the comic-book superheros of our age (including Superman and Batman from the 1930's, and the later Spiderman of the early 1960's) are just second-generation copies of the earlier prototypes. They are all very much derivative of the ancient (but revered) grandaddies of the superheros. Prototypes came forth from the second decade of the 20th century.

So, hey, don't forget to search around a bit and get hold of some fantastic heroic-adventure novels! Some of the great classics from the pioneer days are currently available for free through the internet, as they are now in the public domain! There must be a lucky star over the Red Planet tonight!

"Jungle Hero" is part of my "Jungle Warriors" set, so you will find it listed in UT under the Male Commando selection-list as "JW Jungle Hero."

TO INSTALL:

Unzip. Copy the .int file to your UT game's "System" sub-folder, and the .utx file to the "Textures" sub-folder. Make the appropriate entry in your UnrealTournament.ini start-up file in order to use the skin for multi-player games ("ServerPackages=CommandoSkinsJH1b" should be added under the "[Engine.GameEngine]" heading).
